Characterized by their vibrant and rich hues, high chroma, excellent lightfastness, and a selection of "Elite" colors enriched with heavy metal pigments such as cadmiums and cobalts, Duo colors are designed with versatility in mind. They feature a water-soluble, refined linseed oil binder that renders them compatible with a wide array of media, including traditional oil colors and mediums, watercolor, gouache, acrylic gouache, and acrylics. They even harmonize with metallic and pearlescent watercolors, allowing artists to create unique colors that typically don't exist in the traditional oil color palette.

Duo Aqua Oil Colors are no longer water-soluble when mixed with more than 30% traditional oil color.

DUO serves as an excellent educational tool and an outstanding choice for printmaking ink. Notably, Holbein Duo Aqua Oil Colors can be diluted with water to achieve a captivating "melting" effect.
